Mrs. Jacquelyn Spokas

Mrs. Spokas is our school Counselor/Social Worker.  As a mother and counselor, she finds nothing more satisfying than working with children and seeing life through the eyes of a child.  She always takes an empathetic approach when working with others and tries to help them become their best self and to see all of their amazing God given talents.  Mrs. Spokas earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Eastern Illinois University.  She then attended Roosevelt University to become a certified Paralegal and worked in a law firm in The Loop for five years.  She was feeling unfulfilled in her career choice and wanted to feel she was making a difference in others’ lives.  So, she went back to school and attended DePaul University where she earned her Master of Education in School and Community Counseling and Type 73 certification.  Mrs. Spokas worked at Taft High School, part of Chicago Public Schools, for seven and a half years as a school counselor.  She was able to work with students one on one and in the classrooms on their academic and social emotional issues and spent a great deal of time with college and career planning.  After having two sons, she wanted to have more time at home and accepted a position at St. Raphael Catholic School.  She has found it to be an incredibly welcoming and warm environment filled with staff who truly care about their student’s success.
