Mrs. Rebecca Pruim

Mrs. Pruim is thrilled to be the Junior High Science Teacher and 8th Grade on-level Math Teacher for St. Raphael!  Mrs. Pruim grew up in Naperville and in her childhood years she attended St. Raphael as a parishioner with her family and also made her confirmation at the parish.  Mrs. Pruim is a science enthusiast!  She obtained her Associates of Science from College of DuPage and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University.  Following graduation, Mrs. Pruim worked with various Chicagoland area Museums and Nature Preserves including The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, Brookfield Zoo and Wheaton Park District.  Mrs. Pruim traveled all over the Chicagoland area writing science curriculum and teaching other educators about best science teaching practices.  During her time as an Environmental Educator, she decided her passion for the sciences was best utilized with students in the classroom.  She made the decision to obtain her Master of Arts in Education and Teaching Certificate for Grades K-9 from Lewis University.

When not in the classroom, Mrs. Pruim enjoys spending time outdoors.  In her free time she goes kayaking and hiking with her husband.  She also enjoys volunteering with her two certified therapy animals (Roxie-dog and Meeko-cat) at Edward Hospital and Manor Care in Naperville.  Mrs. Pruim is an avid gardener and runner.  In the summer months, she is rarely inside as she enjoys cultivating various plants in her yard or training for another run.  She has completed several half marathons and Ragnar Relays and hopes to complete her first marathon in the near future.
